Leia Silvis is a playable character in Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. Daughter of Count Numitol Silvis, she joins the Southern Division against his will and speedily advances through her military training to become a lieutenant in the battalion of Magnus Gallant. Recruited before facing Efeminette in Crenel Canyon, she is brought to the briefing table where Hugo Miller introduces her. Diomedes Rangue refuses to work alongside a woman, but Magnus sees no harm.
Leia joins the Battalion in scene 3 as a Blaze Knight. The Blaze Knight class is a special version of the Valkyrie class with special growths. Her unit includes two Valkyrie and two Amazons. It is advised that one character in her unit be made into a Cleric to avoid visiting the Witch's Hut and wasting Goth. Leia later changes class and becomes a Rune Knight which is a specialized version of the Freya class also featuring special growths and the capability to cast advanced spells.
Abiding the wish of her childhood friend Meredia O'Keife, she travels to the Central Division to assist her father. Should she face his unit, personal dialogue unfolds. After the battle, he dies in her arms, after which she learns he was under the control of an evil Lich.
Appearance
Edit
Leia wears a long, blond braid that touches the middle of her back. Her tunic is blue and she wields Spears in battle, similar to the Valkyrie and Freya classes. Additionally, she will cast Magic, corresponding with the Elemental spell of the Spear she is assigned. At the beginning of Chapter 3, her class changes to Rune Knight.
Etymology
Edit
Leia comes from the Hebrew name לֵאָה (Le'ah), which was probably derived from the Hebrew word לְאָה (le'ah), meaning "weary". Alternatively, it might derive from a Chaldean name meaning "mistress" or "ruler" in Akkadian.
The reference probably spans even further though, as there is a a scene in Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber named Romulus and a town within called Remus. This scene is essentially Leia's homeland, where her father rules as Lord. In Rome mythology Romulus and Remus' mother was named Rhea Silvia (sounds like Leia Silvis), and Rhea's father was a renowned king of Alba Longo. Alba is also a scene in Ogre Battle 64.
